Maggie set a record, and not the kind a parent wishes for. Based on all cases registered through the Children's Oncology Group, at age 2 Maggie was the youngest person diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia in the U.S.

The diagnosis meant two years of hospitalizations, chemotherapy, radiation, and an eventual bone marrow transplant at Phoenix Children's. Those are all big words – and big treatments – for such a small child. But her parents say the doctors, nurses, and child life specialists made an extremely difficult experience easier for the entire family. And today, Maggie's parents are proud to say that their daughter has reached a milestone – one they did wish for: Remission.
